THE ROLE OF DRUGS OF BIOLOGICAL ORIGIN IN COMBINED THERAPY AND PREVENTION OF THE CHRONIC PROSTATITIS

Abstract

Introduction. Chronic prostatitis affects 10-15% of the male population of developed countries, resulting in 2 million or more outpatient visits to the doctor, while the recurrence rate increases with the age of the patient up to 50%. Standard complex therapy in most cases does not lead to a decrease in the number of relapses.
Purpose of the study. The efficacy of drugs of biological origin (Adenoprosin®) in combined therapy and prevention of chronic prostatitis was evaluated.
Material and methods. Using the unified protocol from 2021 to 2022 2907 men were selected with a diagnosis of chronic prostatitis category II, III according to the NIH criteria, as well as patients with chronic prostatitis (CP) and benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). All patients received complex therapy and additional therapy with the drugs of biological origin in the form of rectal suppositories 150 mg once a day for 30 days.
Results and discussion. When analyzing the Chronic Prostatitis Symptom Summary Questionnaire (NIH-CPSI) questionnaire during the follow-up survey, moderate symptoms were observed in 17% of patients (50% before treatment), and severe symptoms were observed in 16.2% of patients (48% before treatment). In patients with CP of category II and III and patients with CP with concomitant BPH, the results of NIH-CPSI have turned out as similar; according to the results of the assessment of indicators of the International Prostate Symptom Scale (IPSS), there was a steady decrease from 19.2±1.9 to 6.2±1.9 points.
Conclusions. As the result of the inclusion of the drug of biological origin to the complex therapy of patients with CP II, III categories and patients with CP and BPH is therapeutically justified, a positive result was obtained in 83.8% of cases.
