Introduction. Parapharyngeal tumors are relatively rare but are of particular interest to surgeons regarding access, tumor removal, risks, and complications.
Purpose of study. The aim was to demonstrate a successful clinical outcome of a parapharyngeal tumor transoral excision.
Material and methods. At admission, the patient complained of a solid formation in the lower jaw and upper neck area and headache. MRI of the neck 09.08.2024 showed a hypovascular formation in the right parapharyngeal space.
Result. The parapharyngeal formation was surgically removed through the oral cavity. A macro preparation represented a lumpy superficial tumor formation with a size of 2.5×3.2 cm, dense consistency.
Discussion of the result. The presented clinical case is distinguished by the rare occurrence of this pathology, asymptomatic course until reaching large sizes and relatively favorable outcome of surgical treatment. The outcome of surgical treatment depends on the histological structure of the tumor, its location, spread and vascularization, as well as its relationship with surrounding tissues (main vessels, nerve structures, etc.).
Conclusion. A thorough monitoring of the condition of the adjacent large vessels is required to prevent excessive bleeding during surgery.
