Abstract

Introduction. In this study, was carried out a comparative analysis using of multifocal lenses used in the surgical treatment of cataracts. Cataract— a partial or complete violation of the clarity of the lens, it is one of the main causes of visual impairment and reversible blindness in the world, affecting one in six people over the age of 40 and the vast majority of the population by the age of 80. The situation with cataracts in Kazakhstan differs slightly from the prevalence of the disease in other countries. Thus, in the general statistics of eye diseases in the country, 48.4% of patients lose their eyesight due to this pathology and the average annual number of cataract surgery varieds between 19 thousand.
The purpose of the study. To conduct a comparative characteristics of various models multifocal IOLs implanted bilaterally in patients after cataract surgery in international articles and to provide data on the experience of using multifocal lenses.
Material and methods. A literature search was conducted in the scientific publications in evidence-based medicine databases (MEDLINE, PubMed, Cochrane Library) published with the terms: “Panoptix”, “Symfony”, “Rayone Trifocal”, “AT LISA”, “FINE VISION”, “multifocal lenses”. The search resulted in 34 publications, 8 of which are included in this review. The аrticles were limited to English language and to the period from January 1, 2018 to January 20, 2023. After that, the criteria for selecting information were derived and compiled into a table for presentation and analysis.
Discussion. The presented results show that performing phacoemulsification with the implantation of a multifocal refractive IOL allows achieving high visual results.
Conclusions. As a result of surgical treatment, high vision was obtained not only in the distance range, but also in the close-range area, particularly, the PanOptix IOL models, and the IOL of the Symfony model can be good at an intermediate distance. The patients were satisfied with the quality of their vision and were able to easily adapt as in professional activities and in everyday routine.
