The high content of autoantibodies in the blood allowed us to diagnose chronic autoimmune thyroiditis (CAT) at a certain stage of its development from subclinical hyperthyroidism to hypothyroidism, on which the treatment tactics depended. At the same time, there is no specific treatment that corrects changes in autoantibodies in these patients, which is the subject of drug search and discussion of the results.
The purpose of the observational study was to substantiate the possibility of using the encapsulated form of black cumin oil in the treatment of CAT.
Material and methods. The study included 177 patients with thyroid disease. Of these: 60% women, 40% men, the age of the patients ranged from 18 to 70 years. The study was approved by the ethics committee, all patients signed informed consent to participate in the study.
According to the modern WHO classification, all patients were divided into two groups: group 1 (96 people) - young patients whose age was less than 44 years old and group 2 (81 people) - patients from 44 years old and older. Patients underwent studies of pituitary-thyroid hormones (TSH, аT4, аT3, TPOAb and TGAb) and ultrasound of the thyroid gland. All patients who received treatment with the encapsulated form of black seed oil were monitored for TPOAb and TGAb in the blood at baseline before treatment and 3 months after completion of therapy.
Results and discussions. An isolated increase in the level of TPOAb concentration in group 1 was observed in 60% of young patients, while in group 2 in persons over 44 years old in 40% of patients. At the same time, it is noteworthy that the level of concentration of TGAb, on the contrary, was increased in group 2, in older persons. A simultaneous increase in the level of concentration in the blood serum of TPOAb and TGAb was observed in young patients and amounted to 57% of cases, which indicates that in young patients the autoimmune process proceeds more aggressively. The inclusion in the complex treatment of the capsulated black cumin oil "BioHayat" as immunomodulator is accompanied by a decrease in TPOAb and TGAb in chronic autoimmune thyroiditis.
Conclusion. Our observational studies of patients with chronic autoimmune thyroiditis using the encapsulated form of black cumin oil turned out to be quite effective, as shown by a decrease in the level of TPOAb and TGAb titers, which in turn indicates a decrease in the degree of activity of the autoimmune process.
