TRACE ELEMENT COMPOSITION OF BREAST MILK IN POSTPARTUM WOMEN WITH PURULENT-SEPTIC COMPLICATIONS

Abstract

Introduction. Postpartum purulent-septic complications in postpartum women represent an important medical and social problem, remaining one of the main causes of both maternal and perinatal morbidity. In this regard, it is relevant to assess the qualitative and quantitative composition of breast milk in postpartum women with purulent-septic complications in the postpartum period.
Purpose of the study. To evaluate the microbiological spectrum and microelement composition of breast milk in postpartum women with purulent-septic complications in the postpartum period.
Material and methods. This study involved 170 women - in the main group there were 70 postpartum women with various forms of purulent-septic complications, and in the control group - 100 clinically healthy postpartum women who were being treated at the City Multidisciplinary Hospital №2 of the Akimat of Astana. Breast milk of postpartum women was studied using microbiological and biochemical methods.
Results. According to the results of a bacteriological study of purulent-septic complications, conditionally pathogenic microflora was isolated in 32 postpartum women (45.7%) from the main group, and during a bacteriological study of breast milk in the same postpartum women, only 12 postpartum women (17.14%) were found to have conditionally pathogenic microflora (S. aureus, S. epidermidis, S. haemolyticus), in 58 cases (82.86%) breast milk remained sterile. A study of the microelement composition of breast milk showed that with purulent-septic complications in postpartum women, the content of proteins decreases by 24%, sodium by 9%, potassium by 13%, and the concentrations of fats, carbohydrates and calcium in the main group, as in the control group, remain at average reference value.
Discussion. Characteristic changes in the qualitative microelement composition of breast milk in postpartum mothers with purulent-septic complications in the postpartum period manifest themselves in the form of: a decrease in protein content by 24%, sodium by 9%, and potassium by 13%. The concentration of fats, carbohydrates and calcium in the main group, as in the control group, is not statistically significant. The etiological structure of purulent-septic complications in postpartum women does not have a reliable correlation with the microbial composition of breast milk.
Conclusions. With the development of purulent-septic complications in postpartum women, the microbial composition of breast milk does not have a statistically significant relationship with the causative agent of the underlying disease, and the microelement composition of breast milk is characterized by a decrease in the level of proteins, sodium and potassium.
